Hello friends and patrons of the arts. I’m Liz Boyle, the director for the 2020 GILT, Jr. camp. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the teaching staff and I have made the decision to move this year’s camp to a completely virtual format. With local school districts closing for in-person summer sessions and sporting events continuing to limit gatherings, we felt that this was the safest course of action for our students, our staff members, our medical community, and all of our families.
The staff and the greater GILT community of volunteers have been working diligently to explore digital options that can make this summer’s virtual camp a unique experience. It is a challenge to teach the facets of theatre in an online environment, but it’s a challenge we’re willing to face. I hope that you’ll join us June 22 through June 27 to experience the GILT, Jr. camp in this completely new format, and tell your friends and family members to come check it out, too. In the month of June, you can expect to see more social media posts preparing you for what’s to come.
We are not charging a registration fee for this year’s camp, we are not limiting the camp to just 50 participants, and we are not limiting the ages from 3rd to 8th grade -- whether you’re young or young at heart, you’re welcome to join us for the 2020 digital camp experience. If you feel inclined, GILT would always be happy to accept your donations to help us keep the doors open and the lights on; even if we don’t have an audience. As they say; the show must go on, even if it’s not going on quite the way we had planned.
Please stay safe and healthy as we approach summertime. We really, really want to see you again next year.
